Also, we finally get the Naming Dame's name! I thought she might be some kind of mystical witch on an island only to take an apprentice toward the end of her life, but somehow Hagretta the Meany doesn't give that vibe. And its not to say Cowell can't name the characters spooky things: take Exellinor for example. But it would be strange if she was just a Hooligan because in that case she could just tell everyone that Stoic wasn't doing his chiefly duty.

Speaking of Stoic, did I mention I loved Stoic in this?

Also, glad the Visithugs didn't hunt the Peaceables: I have forgotten how dark these books really are!

We get the backstory on the Hogfly! I did wonder when Hiccup had ever trained the Hogfly. Interesting how he just calls it "The Hogfly" instead of Hellsbells. I guess it sounds pretty ridiculous to him for such a dragon. Me too. There are actually so many things mentioned in the books that are never elaborated on and the Hogfly is just one of them.

Very Vicious was a good villain. Gave me a good scare. 10/10

Also, Dastardly Dangerus needs to discipline his child and do what's right for him. He needs to snatch up the Silver Phantom. Not that I feel bad for a villain but come on man, grow a spine!!!

Anyways on to the other parts of the plot!

So Empires is another island, with nine ruling clans (I took out Pearl, Jimmy, and Gem's kingdoms due to plot). This is where most of the Emperors come from, they are the children of these leaders.

Pearl and Jimmy ended up on the island when Jimmy was thirteen and Pearl was fourteen. Jimmy had been sent by the Listeners, while Pearl had shipwrecked after escaping the Watchers.

Most of the Emperors are just kinda chilling. They're living their lives and learning how to hunt dragons and keep their island safe.

There's only one problem, the island has a history of sacrificing misbehaving children to a nearby island filled with the worst and most deadly dragons.

Everything changes when a masked figure starts attacking, claiming to control the deathgrippers. They say their name is Xornoth, and they know the secrets of the island.

Of course, they do. After all, Xornoth is the only surviving child who was sacrificed. They want revenge for their friends, and to get rid of their parents once and for all.

Oh, and they're Scott's older sibling. Scott doesn't know about this.

So, when Xornoth starts threatening Scott's island, he (very blind to the truth, because sheltered upbringings will do that to you) decides to leave and seek out somebody who could help. Jimmy offers to come along, and Scott says yes, because Jimmy could be useful, not at all because Scott has a crush on him. Totally.

They end up sailing for a few days, before being scooped up by Grian, who is overjoyed to see one of his old friends again. And to have somebody who isn't Scar around.

I should note this happens before Grian finds out BigB and Martyn are alive.

Now, meanwhile with the Crastle crew:

Cleo is about to pull her hair out, because why are they stuck with this gremlin of a teenager. All she wants to do is go home for once, not be stuck on this random island after getting blown off course in a storm.

Bdubs is having a great time! He's finally got another person on the island besides himself, and shes great! He swears he'll protect her forever, because she can get him off the island. It's been a long two years after all.

Impulse has zero idea what's going on. He and Tango were out looking for Skizz one minute, exploring an island and getting jumped on by a feral teenager and a redhead who has a knife the next. He's pretty sure he wants to go home.

Tango has given up trying to understand anything. He's just listening to Cleo and Bdubs argue about what to do with him and Impulse, so he offers to help them work on a ship in exchange for their freedom after the ship is built. That seems to work.

Yes Evo is abandoned but sort of intact! However it's been pretty ravaged and needs a few years before most plants grow back, as a lightning storm that ended up making the forests catching fire happened shortly after the Watchers took and/or killed everybody.

Jimmy - a yellow razorwhip named Canary!

Scott - a red whispering death named Poppy

Bdubs - a snaptrapper named Mossy as a collective, and a terrible terror named Shrub

Cloe - a bonenapper named Bones, and she later gets a screaming death named Screamy

Not sure if you are familiar with the How to train your Dragon franchise, but what kind of dragon would each Ericson Kid ride? Or would they ride one at all? Maybe they still hold on to the old Vikings-bashing-Dragons ideology, who knows?

YES! Love How to Train Your Dragon! Let's see well to start off we would say that the au would follow the movies' plot somewhat. Willy would be the protagonist so he would be HIccup. Makes sense since he's a lanky kid who wants to het stronger and who has a knack for inventions. That would make Allison Astrid then. The two of them would help the other Ericson kids see that dragons aren't evil. Now onto which dragons each Ericson kid gets.

Clementine: Shivertooth. She met it when it was busy pranking a hunter who thought he could outsmart it. Clementine and the dragon met eyes and it was intrigued by her so it decided to stick by her. With sharp scales and a mischievous side its a dragon you shouldn't mess with.

Louis: Light Fury, he doesn't meet his dragon for a while but he wanted to make sure whatever dragon he chooses he would be its friend for life. His dragon was cautious and skittish for a while but Louis would visit it each night with a snack and eventually, it stayed by Louis' side.

Violet: Deadly Nadder with dark blue scales and speckles of yellow and white along its body and wings. Looks similar to a starry night sky. It enjoys nighttime rides and visiting a certain inventor on the island who Violet has a crush on.

Marlon: Snafflefang, an active dragon who loves snacking on geodes. It may not look that intimidating but just wait until it's in battle. Exploding fireballs, a hard hit from its spike-like tail. It's brutal but most of the time Marlon goes on adventures with his dragon letting it frolic and play with the different dragons.

Mitch: Windwalker. A dragon that's fast can shoot fire and water blasts and uses lighting. Hell yeah! He had a really tough time earning the dragon's trust but once he did it became an unbreakable bond. Let's just not talk about how many burnt pairs of pants he got thanks to his dragon.

Brody: Raincutter with blue and purple scales on its back and wings with a pink belly. She rescued it before it got sold off and it immediately flew off. An hour later it returned with a large fish as a thanks to Brody and has stuck by her side ever since.

Aasim: Snifflehunch. People teased him and his dragon for its name but Aasim didn't care. He loves his dragon in all its fire-sneezing glory. He just has to make sure that it doesn't sneeze near anything important. Those sneezes will melt nearly anything.

Ruby: Thunderclaw, it may not be much of a flyer but damn can it fight. It's cute but feisty, perfect for Ruby. She tries to make sure it doesn't make though since it can't fly and then it gets sad when it can't play in the air with the other dragons.

Omar: Gronckle with a more brown and orange tone to its scales. It's a big chunky dragon and Omar loves it to pieces. Definitely give its treats all the time.

Sophie: Hotburple, a dragon that is lazy sleepy, and eats way too much scrap metal. It also had a tendency to nap while in flight. Funny in concept not so funny when it's nosediving towards a cave. Sophie learned that the hard way.

Minnie: Timberjack. She likes to vibe in the woods with it. Her Timberjack enjoys peace and solace and hey sometimes so does she. She doesn't pressure it into getting into fights. Sometimes it shields her from the cold with its wings. So yeah she loves her dragon.

Tenn: A little herd of terrible terrors who follow him around everywhere. They can be prickly but they are deeply fond of Tenn who doesn't mind having little dragons by his side.

AJ: Typhoomerang, a fast dragon that rotates during flight at high speeds. AJ meet the dragon when it was caught in a trap and he saved it. After a ride together and seeing the ash from its burning takeoff AJ knew he had the most badass dragon ever.

James: He also has a Timberjack his being a smokey color than Minnie's. He found it trying to run away from hunters but due to its lack of legs, it was doomed. James saved it though and the dragon bonded with him. It hates fighting but hey so does James so it works out well.

Willy: He gets a Night Fury and it follows close to how HIccup met Toothless except Willy names his dragon something else. He helps built it a back fin and they are the best of buds.

And then a few of our ocs too!

Prisha: Thornridge, a dragon that looks more intimidating than it is. It freaked out when it spotted Prisha and ended up attacking her from the shadows due to being scared. Prisha was calm and understanding with it, helping it settled down. This teal dragon is always there to help its friends and family. It likes wandering around aimlessly but always returns back to Prisha with a friendly headbutt. Sometimes it distracts Prisha from a new invention she’s working on.

Allison: Deadly Nadder, hers has a mix of purple and teal scales around its body. It tends to find rocks for Allison knowing that she likes them. It is a dragon that can't get enough exercise and loves flying so Allie is up in the skies the most.

Renata: Hobblegrunt, a dragon that changes colors depending on mood with yellow being happy, purple meaning curious, and red meaning you're in deep shit. It's known as a lucky dragon due to how sensitive it is due to the fins on head. Renata sure feels lucky having found her dragon buddy and based on the fact that her Hobblegrunt is constantly being yellow she can tell it loves being with her too.

Had a blast making this, really tempted to start writing for an au like this. Thanks again for the ask!

Alright I’ll get my bf to infodump about the sin au and take notes later but for now:

Overhaul: a death gripper. It’s name is Shinu, meaning death in Japanese. Death grippers are untameable, they attack everything and have no trust in anyone. Out of every piece of Httyd media I believe there is only one death gripped tamed and it’s not canon. They’re also incredibly deadly, I believe they can inject venom through their tail? Unless that’s something I’m getting mixed up with triple strykes, they’re both scorpion like so I wouldn’t be surprised.

Chrono: I had a hard time choosing for him, I wanted to give him a death song or a razor whip too but we eventually decided on a silver phantom. My reasons are the colours and aesthetic match, they’re very graceful and elegant, and the silver phantom is a performer, which matches my Headcannon that Chrono is a ballet dancer in his spare time. Her name is mercury.

Tengai: This is another I couldn’t decide. I feel as if a windwalker would match his aesthetic and vibe more, however a change wing matches another bizarre Headcannon I have for him which involves crossovers and such and it’s basically just chaos. In short- I’d say a windwalker for canon (her name is driftwood) or a Changewing for my au. Yet to be named.

Rappa: what would be better for a ring fighter, than a champion dragon? I gave Rappa a champion Catastrophic Quaken (from the rise of Berk game). It’s a big, tanky boulder class dragon, that attacks by curling up into a ball and ramming its entire body into its enemies. It also eats rocks, so it wouldn’t be too hard for Rappa to look after, cos let’s be honest here, the man can’t keep a cacti alive (neither can I). His name is Rocky. Rocky and Driftwood hate each other with a passion.

Deidoro: he’s one of the few that has two dragons: a flying dragon and a land dragon. His land dragon is a Hobgobbler, called DeeDee DooDee, who he likes to use to play pranks on the rest of the hassiakai, using its flammable saliva to set random things on fire and cause explosions. His flying dragon is a hotburple, who was originally called Keith, but was renamed to Quiche, as Eri couldn’t pronounce its name right. Oh- and if you couldn’t tell. I just chose the two derpiest and stupidest dragons for him. I feel it fits.

Hojo: Another one with two: Stompy the rock stomper, chosen due to its love of trinkets and shiny things, and Honeycomb the cavern crasher. I think with stompy, it was less Hojo wanting him, and more stompy deciding he was going to keep Hojo’s crystals to himself- and then Hojo as a result. Yu doesn’t give me the vibes of the kinda guy who’d really enjoy riding a dragon at ridiculous high speeds, thousands of feet above ground, so I think the others take it in turns flying stompy, while Hojo and Honeycomb explore the nearby caves, more than content on the ground (why am I on Hojo rants right now??)

Setsuno: A Hobgobbler named Sudoku, meaning Suicide in Japanese. He found the dragon in a similar situation he’d once been in: Sudoku’s mate had left him, for a bigger, stronger Titan dragon, leaving him alone and feeling worthless. Setsuno dragged him home and helped him, and now they’re near inseparable. (I know there’s better fits, like an armor wing or a sword stealer, but this is my AU and I say the two pathetic yellow and green guys get to hang out)

Tabe: once again with two dragons: Chips, the terrible terror, who causes nothing but mischief everywhere she goes, frequently stealing other people’s food, and Spud, the Gronckle, who met Tabe through a shared interest of eating rocks.

Katsukame: A Rumblehorn named Boneflour. Originally the name was supposed to have something to do with her being able to crush your bones to flour, but no one hears it right, and thinks it means a plant. This annoys the hell out of both Katsukame and the dragon.

Nemoto: forgive me for this, but a snafflefang. Nemoto fed him a fish once and he’s not left his side since. His name is Barrel and he’s the opposite of Nemoto in every way but one, that one being his unending loyalty to the people he cares for.

And finally, mimic, who also has two, one for each form: Ankle Biter, the night terror, who was supposed to get an actual name, but no one could decide on one, and the nickname just stuck, and squeaky, the boneknapper, who was named that due to its armour being incomplete when mimic found him, leading him to have a weak, wheezing squeak, instead of the powerful roar he was supposed to.

Did I say mimic was the last one? Nah. Here’s some quick fire (pun intended) ones because I’m feeling generous:

Pops has a crimson goregutter, though significantly smaller than most, leading everyone to believe it’s a runt. Aizawa has a night fury called star shadow, no one knows how he got it, he just did. Eri has a nightlight, with a similar look to pouncer from the hidden world and if anyone is interested, my oc Chara has a light fury to match her dad’s night fury and her daughter’s night light.

NOW that’s the end, so, yeah, I’ll update y’all on the Sin AU later today.

Quick heads up: there’s brief overdose mention and suicide right at the end so be wary of that if you think that’ll be triggering to you.

What I like about him: How much he clearly cares for Tabe and Setsuno (blah blah the camaraderie warms my heart, blah blah trauma from having no friends in school blah blah), pretty Crystals, buff man make brain go brrr.

What I dislike about him: that one screenshot where you can see he’s got stubble under his mask. No. Fucking shave your face dude. You already shave your head. Also that he got no screen time outside of getting his ass kicked :’)

Favourite moment: explaining why he and the other 2/3s of the trash trio are so close and that they’re not worth anything without each other (EEEEEEEEEE-)

Situations I want to see more: Give me day to day trash trio shenaniganary. I want them doing normal stuff: going grocery shopping, hanging out with the other bullets, pestering overhaul, just slice of life stuff. I’d also love his relationships with Toya and Tabe to be developed more. Like, yeah, they’re trash but with each other they’re trash with meaning (EEEEEEEE-*is knocked out) but I want to know the actual dynamics. Toya is supposed to be the leader, do they actual respect that? (See more on this in the head cannon bit)

Interesting AU: One where he’s in a bizarre interlinked family tree with like, 6 others from the series. This is one me and my bf made, I dubbed it the Sin AU because each person’s quirk is from one of the seven deadly sins: Midnight is Lust, Deidoro is Gluttony, Monoma is Envy, Hojo is Greed, Tiger is Sloth, and there were two more I can’t recall at the current time. It doesn’t really do much other than add another layer of depth to the character, but I think it’s cool none the less. (Also I wanna see how the family reunions would go lol)

Crossover: Give this man a cavern crasher, give this man a rock stomper, we’re going to Berk, Gadies and Lents. I wanna see the entire Hassaikai with dragons from how to train your dragon so bad!! (I actually have headcannons for everyone! If you want to know I’ll elaborate in the notes)

OTP: ok ok ok. It’s weird, I know, but you gotta hear me out on this one: Hojo and Pixie Bob. The reason I say this is linked back to the Sin AU (Ibara must have coded my iPad or something, it won’t let me type sin without autocorrecting to sun a million times) because I Headcannon Deidoro and Ragdoll to be friends/partners/no one can fucking tell, so because Ragdoll and pixie are best friends, and in that au Deidoro and hojo were brothers, plus Hojo and tiger were related, it just kinda fell into place. Plus Pixie is super desperate for a partner and I feel like Hojo gets zero bitches, he’s the human embodiment of the ‘No bitches?’ Meme. Anyways.

Other ships: Overhaul and Chrono (because under no circumstance will I ever split them up). Purely cos I saw a post saying that entire rant about the trash trio being useless without overhaul and them owing everything to him was said by Hojo, not Setsuno, and it sounding like he had a crush on him.

BROTP: the rest of the trash trio. Duh.

NOTP: anyone from the league except now that I think about it I can weirdly see him working with Magne? …hm. And any pro too.

Headcannon time!!!

1. While Setsuno is the ‘leader’ of the trash trio, and he’s good at it, don’t get me wrong, he can definitely strategise and knows what he’s doing, he’s terrible at just…existing day to day life, so Hojo typically has to help him. He’s his common sense, in a way. He’s to Setsuno what Tengai is to Rappa, just both are a lot happier with the arrangement.

2. He and Setsuno actually knew each other before they joined the hassiakai, not well but they attended the same school and had a few classes together.

3. He’s 22 years old and the oldest of the trash trio. He’s also the third tallest in the bullets at 6’1 (only Rappa and Katsukame are taller cos…yeah. Btw this is completely ignoring the canon evidence showing otherwise because Tabe is not allowed to be tall. He is baby and he is no taller than 5’3 and I will bite anyone who says otherwise. I’m only saying this because I want to be taller than at least one person in the hassiakai-)

4. Sad backstory time. He was orphaned: his dad cheated on his mum before Hojo was born and his mum died of a drug overdose when he was around four. He was then moved to live with his aunt who..wasn’t an amazing parent but was better than what he had previously. As he got older, about 16, he found out what actually happened with his parents, and attempted to find his dad. He eventually managed to get in contact with him- however his dad wanted nothing to do with him. This destroyed him and he attempted to end his life, however overhaul found him and took him in. A few months later, Setsuno joined, and then Tabe about half a year after that, and with that, the trash trio was fully formed.

Huh. Didn’t know I had that much to say about him. I really thought I’d have a few sentences for each question…anyways, hope you enjoyed!
